Advises SaaS technology leaders on operating models, platform modernization, product and engineering alignment, responsible AI adoption, and delivery performance, in selective engagements. Published Profitable Engineering and speaks on connecting delivery flow, organizational design, and technology investment to measurable customer and business outcomes.

Led the 100+ person Parchment engineering division after Instructure’s $835M acquisition, with a dual mandate: run the platform and coordinate and execute the 15-month M&A integration plan between Parchment and Instructure engineering. Sustained 99.98% uptime across roughly 55M annual transactions with 90%+ retention while integrating Scribbles and two Budapest-based teams.

Four progressive leadership roles over nearly twelve years, scaling engineering and technology from roughly 20 to 100+ people across 10+ countries. Led Software Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Agile Delivery leadership teams, including the evolution of the Scrum Master function as the organization’s delivery model matured.

Helped lead the transformation from waterfall and siloed functional teams toward Agile, Lean, DevOps, and flow-based delivery, using value stream management to improve visibility, reduce friction, and strengthen end-to-end delivery. Shifted from project-oriented, short-lived teams toward durable, self-managed cross-functional teams organized around products and business capabilities, with greater ownership from idea through production and outcomes. In parallel, supported the modernization of Parchment’s technology platform from a co-located monolithic architecture to a cloud-managed, microservices-based platform.

Invested in people. Designed and implemented engineering hiring and interview practices and workflows, and helped develop and later drive improvements to the division’s career development framework and practices, strengthening how people were hired, developed, and grown within the organization.

Beginning in 2023, established responsible AI adoption before it became an industry mandate, combining AI literacy, champion-led experimentation, assisted delivery, and agentic prototyping with secure-development controls, IP and PII protections, human review, evaluation standards, and measurement of adoption, impact, cost, and quality.

Over that transformation, delivery moved from two annual batch releases to multiple daily deployments, lead time fell 80%, and the organization grew to more than 3,000 production changes annually while maintaining approximately 95% change quality, a near-zero defect backlog, and 99.98% uptime. Led through significant growth and organizational change, including nine acquisitions and a $200M recapitalization.

Advanced through software engineering, architecture, and leadership roles, including promotion to software engineering manager, before moving into enterprise architecture. Led global integration and enterprise architecture initiatives for high-volume shipping platforms across the United States, Europe, and Asia, and managed engineering teams spanning messaging gateways, web development, and system integration.

First real job, in the late-1990s e-commerce boom: building online catalog stores for brands like Sharper Image, Swiss Colony, and Novell on an open-standards Java commerce platform, contributing the framework’s shipping and tax modules, then managing the professional-services engineering teams and, as director, the product software engineering team.
